WTN: Novy Syrah NapaVlly '07...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Wed Mar 05, 2025 11:42 am

Tried this last night from my archives:
1. Novy Syrah NapaVlly (14.3%) NovyCllrs/SantaRosa 2007: Med.color w/ some browning; rather tired/dried out/cedary/pencilly light blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry slight toasty/oak little fruit nose; soft pretty tired/dried out bit cedary/pencilly some alcoholic scant fruit flavor w/ drying/astringent tannins; med.long dried-out finish that mimics flavor; still a slight bit of fruit left but pretty dried-out/tired/astringent; not overt oxidation; not much left of this relic.

More cissersplat from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I opened this Syrah w/ very low expectations. It fully delivered on those expectations. My experience is that the Novy Syrahs are not particularly long agers. The next morning after sitting out on the counter, stoppered, the wine was pretty much totally shot.
