WTN: It's green!--Occhipinti SP 68 Blanco

by Jenise » Sat Mar 01, 2025 3:24 pm

A sheer coincidence with this month's focus topic, but last night I opened a wine that happens to be from an organic, sustainable winemaker. The occasion: my brother popped in for dinner and he absolutely loves ginger/spice/floral whites (me, not so much), so I'd been saving this for him.

2022 Arianna Occhipinti Sicilia SP68 Bianco White Blend
Our bottle had no sulphur like the previous CT poster's. Instead: bright 22 karat yellow-gold, muscatty floral-spice nose with fruit in the guava, quince and dried pear aisle. Excellent, if you enjoy the style. Chris loved it.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Never had the bianco. Somewhere in my photo library I've got a shot of Arianna Occhipinti standing on a table top, bottle of wine in hand, at the after-hours celebration at the end of a Real Wine Tour tasting in Chicago. Truly a wild woman.

SP68 is good stuff in both colors

Yeah, Arianna is -- at least, was -- a hoot.

I tried to follow up with a 2020 SP68 Red but it was corked. :(
