WTN: Maison LesAlexandrins Syrah VdF '22...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Feb 10, 2025 1:39 pm

Tried this new wine last night:
1. Maison LesAlexandrins Syrah VdF (13%; 5% Viognier; VnydBrands/Birmington/AL) Tain l'Hermitage 2022: Very dark color; very strong blackberry/Syrah/peppery raher NRhone/roasted/smokey some dusty/OV rather complex Hermitage-like bit rustic lovely nose; lightly tart quite rich very NRhonish/roasted/peppery blackberry/Syrah bit earthy strong peppery/blackberry/Syrah very lightweight Hermitage-like bit rustic flavor w/ light smooth tannins; very long/lingering NRhonish/roasted/pungent finish thartracks flavor; not quite the soaring aromatics of C-R & much more like a lighter/more rustic Hermitage; should benefit from 3-8 yrs of age; quite a good Syrah for a steal of a price; a Jr.Hermitage. $18.00 (SFW&S)

More mikkelblick from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. This is a joint effort by Nicolas Jaboulet and Alexandre Caso. A Vin de Pays from young (15 yr old on average) vines on the outskirts of the Northern Rhone. Made in the traditional method of their Hermitage/Crozes-Hermitage to preserve the crunchiness of the Syrah. A bit rustic & not the lushness of their other wines, but still speaks strongly of NRhone Syrah.

That sounds amazing. I'm going to provide your note to my local retailer and see if he can hunt some down.

So I did as I said I would, sent this TN to a friend and gave credit to you by name, not at all knowing he'd recognize you. He responded thusly:

Not sure if I mention this before but I new a guy who was a chef in Santa Fe and Bellingham who use to communicate with Tom. I think they may have even been in a tasting group? Robert Goodfriend was his name. I have lost touch with him.

You do get around!

Yup.... know Robert Goodfriend well.
I think he's still associated with the Tasting Room on Post Street.

It's a Vineyard Brands import. So should be available.
