WTN: Two New Bucklin Whites...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Tue Jan 28, 2025 4:19 pm

We tasted these two Bucklins last week at Pig+Fig:
1. Bucklin OldHillRanch Mixed Whites (13.6%; 14 Heritage varieties; 93 cs) 2023: Light gold color; pleasant floral/carnations/SB-like/CB-like bit earthy/plastiv trash can bit old-timey/rustic/earthy somewhat interesting nose; bit soft somewhat grapey/old-timey/some SB-like light earthy/dusty flavor; fairly long soft/rustic white flavor that tracks the flavor; a pleasant old-timey rather SB-like w/o the herbal white that reminds of a GusSebastiani CB or a Weibel Green Hungarian; pleasant enough but just that. $30.00

2. Bucklin DenmarkSt.Vnyd/SonomaVlly (14.1%; Farmer: Eric Clouse) Bucklin/Sonoma 2023: Light gold color; fairly strong SB/cat pee bit herbal/earthy pleasant SB nose; lightly tart bit herbal/SB/grassy/cat pee rather old-timey/rustic somewhat simple flavor; med.long grassy/SB finish that tracks flavor; a pleasant enough SB but just that; not particularly distinctive. $26.00

More kikklespurt from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Both of these two whites were pleasant enough but just that, neither particularly distinctive and both on the simple side. I preferred the SB because it showed some varietal character.

First time I've seen it.
