A couple nice wines from the cellar. The SB had no common characteristics of the grape - maybe David would like this version? Had a very good tasting at the Nals winery late last year and was happy to try them again.
- 2015 Domaine Rolet Trousseau Arbois - France, Jura, Arbois (2025-01-22)
The colour is quite faded, a see through copper/light red mixture. An interesting nose of iron, roses, tar and earthy cherries. The light to medium, bodied palate has great intensity, with a silky texture and a hint of ripe tannins on the long finish. To repeat from my earlier note, this is a cerebral wine that gives a lot of pleasure. More integrated on the second night, so this should last a while yet. Wish I had more! Hazy notes - this had interesting musty notes on the nose and palate. I would have never guessed sauvignon blanc here, but it was an interesting medium bodied, fairly rich wine for a SB. More savory than fruit notes here, but very moreish and different (A-). (A-)
