Susan & I tried these 4 wines w/ a friend last night:
1. IngridGroiss GrunerVeltliner DEAC: Weinviertel (12.5%; VineyardBrands/Birmingham) 2023: Light gold color; quite attractive lightly floral/GV/carnations bit spicy/white pepper fairly perfumed bit lightweight nose; lightly tart lightly floral/GV/carnations lightly spicy quite pleasant flavor; long finish that tracks flavor; a quite attractive GV that's a bit lacking in intensity; very attractive price at $21.00 (KK)

2. Montoya Chard Monterey (13.5%; www.MontoyaVineyards.com) MontoyaVnyds/SanMartin&McFarland 2020: Med.light gold color; pleasant melony/Chard/ripe light buttery/oak slight Monterey/herbal/celery seed nose; rather soft ripe/melony/Chard light Monterey/celery seed bit buttery/oak flavor; med.long light celerey seed finish that tracks flavor; speaks quietly of Monterey Chard/celery seed; a rather undistinguished Chard but attractively priced at $16.00 (AV)

3. Rinoldi Crespino IGT: AlpiRetiche Vendemia Tardive (14%; L.19212; WinebowImprts/NY) Also Rainoldi/Chiuro/Valtellina 2016 Med. color; pleasant/attractive Nebb/floral/lilacs lightly pungent/tarry light grapey bit complex nose; bit soft some tangy/metallic/angular lightly Nebb/floral/lilacs light tarry bit earthy/dusty/OB flavor w/ light chewey tannins; med.long some Nebb/floral finish that follows flavor; a bit angular & lacks the usual rich texture of a Valtelline Nebb; a somewhat angry/mean/angular expression of Nebb w/ little LateHrvst character; speaks of Valtelline But a bit of an ugly/mean expression of Valtellina; overpriced at $39.00 (KK)

4. Dom.Giachino Black Giac Red Savoie Wine (11.5%; JefferyAlpertSlctns/Tenafly/NJ) 2021: Very dark/near black color; very strong licorice/chocolaty/blackberry/spicy Mondeuse bit toasty/oak some earthy/dusty/OV bit pencilly/oak rather complex nose; lightly tart/acidic very rich Mondeuse/licorice/blackberry/spicy slight pencilly/oak rather earthy/dusty/OV some rustic/earthy flavor w/ modest angular tannins; very long/lingering bit rough/rustic finish w/ modest chewey tannins; speaks strongly of Savoie Mondeuse but a bit rough/rustic red; a bit pricey at $37.00 (AV)

More sittlefarb from TheBloodyPulpit:
1, Now that Vnyd Brands has taken over the importation of Ingrid's wines from CircoVino, they've become a bit more available. I tried this when it first arrived in NM and thought it a bit on the lightish side. It's put on weight in the intervining 6 mo and is evolving into a quite attractive GV.
I was expecting more from the Rainoldo LateHrvst because I generally like his wines. Thought it would be more like a Sfursat. 'Twas not to be. Speaks of Valtelline Nebb but would like a bit more intensity.
The Black Giac was a quite good expression of Savoie Mondeuse that I liked a lot. A bit on the rough/rustic side but the best of these 4 wines.

Would love to try that GV. Ingrid's wines are very interesting.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
