TN: Nederburg Cab Sauv Private Bin R163, Auction Selection - Nederburg Private Bin wines are sold exclusively at the annual by-invitation-only Nederburg Auction. The label is reserved for specialist, vineyard-selected, limited-edition wines that are hand-made and while classically styled, exhibit prominent fruit flavours. These are 100% cab sauv.

As a former member of the South World Wine Society we had the ability to order wines like this that were not normally exported and these seemed suitable for laying away.

1984 Nederburg Cab Sauv Private Bin R163, Auction Selection - garnet colour with quite pale edges, this wine showed some decent mature notes in the nose and was decent on palate though finishing a ad short.

1986 Nederburg Cab Sauv Private Bin R163, Auction Selection - much better showing with this wine - better colour, and a mature cab nose with cocoa nib and slight earthy components, and much better fruit levels. Decently long smooth finish.

Time to apply myself to my older southern hemisphere holding!
