- 2022 Kutch Pinot Noir Falstaff Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (1/14/2025)
I love what Jamie Kutch does with the Falstaff vineyard, but I love it more with some additional age. This is a little early for me, but hey, science!
Predictably rather primary fruity, it also has a deep earthiness that I could say recalls beets, but I won’t, since lots of people don’t like beets (I do). There’s also a distinct tobacco note adding a level of complexity perhaps from the stem inclusion. Solid, mouthwatering acids are supplemented by light to moderate tannins, so there is appropriate structure for at least several years of aging (yay!).
I look forward to my other bottles, after an appropriate cellaring period.
