Needed something to go with a beef and barley soup that was also going to contain beets, red cabbage and frozen lima beans that a friend was serving for dinner. As I understood it, this would be served with salad, bread and butter and cheeses--all at the same time. These friends love wine but don't know a lot, so it seemed a good time to pull some older, lower-end Bordeauxs.

2010 Château Lilian Ladouys St. Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend
Disgusting mercaptan-ish nose of rotting roasted meats PLUS it's corked! Double barf!

2010 Château d'Arsac Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend
Contrary to four years ago when I wrote "Crap, I have five more bottles of this?", this is no longer mean and green (day one) or "black and chalky" (two days later), just very savory with muted fruit in a way that made a decent if unexciting match for the soup. Drink, don't hold.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Oof. Tough sledding from a reportedly top vintage.
