My dad was a huge fan of Kill Bill. If it was on TV he was watching it. If it wasn’t on TV he was checking to see when it would be on.
One Christmas I gave him a bottle of this wine. The name alone had him smiling, and when he tasted the wine later on he was enthralled. He bought a bunch. I bought a bunch. He searched far and wide to locate and secure bottles. It was quest-like.
As has been told many times, he passed with a lot of wine in his cellar. On my last trip I found one last bottle of this (I still have a bunch). I brought it home, and put it in the queue.
I do not recall the blend for the wine (there’s a lot of Cabernet Sauvignon), but it’s sure ageable. Eleven years on from the vintage, and the fruit is still focused and fresh, tannins are firm but largely buried, and the mouthfeel is quite silky. I would never tag this as being a tween. It feels like a new release. I will be in no hurry to finish off my bottles, and look forward to fond memories for years to come.

This was a Lagier-Meredith project, wasn't it? The Chester of the name is Chester Brandlin IIRC, and the grapes came from his vineyard. I vaguely recall getting an email about it from the winery.

Yes, it was a collaboration between Lagier Meredith and Aaron Pott.
