1995 Musigny Vieilles Vignes, Comte Georges de Vogue

A little grumpy when first poured, but then it opened up beautifully. A lovely combination of grace, power, and complexity, and a fine example of a grand cru from a top producer. The finish does have a tiny bit of acidity sticking out. I'm not sure if this is because the wine is drying out or because it hasn't quite hit its stride yet. In any event it went beautifully with the coq au van I made for Christmas. Definitely needs decanting. Double Curly Moe.

You don't talk about wine every day, but when you do the wines are often fairly impressive. Do you actually do "daily drinkers"?

Yes, I do daily drinkers. I keep an eye on the NH state liquor store's discount shelves. They often have good bargains, the most recent being a nice Valpolicella Ripasso for US$15.
