Uh.... So here's the thing. Rob Newsom is a really cool, fun guy. Lives and makes wine off the grid north of Wenatchee. I'm sure he's buried in snow as we speak. Great sense of humor: he grew up in New Orleans where 'Boudreaux' is kind of a fond way of calling someone a dumbfuck, I think. Making fun of himself but seriously trying to make a Bordeaux style wine, he chose this name for his winery. You'd like him. But maybe not his wines--he's a 100% new oak kind of guy.
Gary Vaynerchuk liked him a lot and that may be how your dad got introduced to these wines.
I had an '08, note it's the Reserve (which neither you nor I would prefer to the regular):
2008 Boudreaux Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve Columbia Valley
10/23/2019 - I like this wine: NR (Edit)
Margot's bottle. Rich and saturated blackberry fruit; must be 100% new oak. Almost black in the glass, highly concentrated. Though we paired it with beef pies, it's more like a cocktail than a food wine (a Reynvaan syrah was the better match), or something to drink after dinner with a cigar.
I wouldn't bet on the '08 regulars hanging on this long. It was a tough vintage and even the best had trouble with it. Go ahead and open but keep your expectations in check.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
