WTN: Two New Bedrock Zins '22....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Fri Dec 20, 2024 1:34 pm

Had these two at Pig+Fig the other day:
1. Bedrock NervoRanchHeritage AlexVlly/SonomaCnty RW (14.8%; Plntd: 1896) 2022: Dark color; strong raspberry/blackberry/very spicy Zin fairly dusty/OV fairly strong vanilla/oak very attractive nose; fairly tart/tangy strong raspberry/blackberry/Zin lightly spicy some vanilla/oak bit earthy/dusty/OV fairly spicy/bright raspberry Zinflavor w/ light soft tannins; very long soft finish that tracks flavor; one of the better Nervos I've had but a bit of that soupy AlexVlly character; quite an attractive Zin. $48.00

2. Bedrock Zin SkyVnyd/NapaVlly (14.5%; Mt.Veeder; Farmed: Olds Family) 2022: Very dark color; rather dusty/OV very strong blackberry/very spicy MtVeeder Zin rather complex light toasty/oak quite lovely nose; lightly tart quite rich/lush very spicy/blackberry/MtVeeder peppery light toasty/Fr.oak somewhat complex beautiful flavor w/ modest chewy tannins; very long/lingering very spicy finish that mimics flavor; a beautiful Bedrock Zin w/ a spicy/peppery character atypical of Bedrock; shows lots of MtVeeder spicy/peppery character that reminds a lot of the old MtVeederWnry Zins of MikeBernstein; one of the better Bedrock Zins. $68.00

More bickerfoote from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. NervoVnyd is an OV vnyd that seldom delivers the good you'd expect from an OV vnyd. This is one of the better examples from that vnyd.
I really loved the SkyVnyd Zin that comes from LoreOlds Sky vnyd atop MtVeeder. It had a bit of the rustic character you get in the SkyVnyd Zins but more of the polish you used to get in MikeBernstein's MtVeederWnry Zins. Beautiful Zin.

Nervo was very poorly taken care of for a very long time. The wines are getting better the longer Morgan’s team is in charge of the viticulture. Still a ways to go to catch up to some of their other wines, but it’s quite credible these days.
