2016 Champagne Copinet Champagne Monsieur Leonard Brut Chardonnay
aka
2016 Copinet B-D-B Leonard Extra Brut

Liked it? Loved it. Tasted thru six Copinets last week at a local wine shop, all excellent but the pours were so tiny and the crowds so thick it was impossible to really compare or take notes. That said, and maybe because of it, the depth of fruit and mineral richness of the top-of-the-line '16 Leonard really stood out, and a back-room pour of a deliriously good 2004 from the store owner's stash sealed the deal. I ordered it.

Btw, new label and retro bottle are interesting, an apparent re-branding. Also this '16 is an Extra Brut (dosage 3 g/L) where prior vintages were just Brut. CT is going to consider it the same wine regardless though to my way of thinking, it's not. Anyway, priced around $65ish, the quality of this is up there with big marquee names at two-three times the price.

I was going for some sort of “low dosage Alabama” reply but I think “Gimme Three Grams” might be better. (And: sounds great!)
cheers, Patchen

Nimoy never crossed my mind. However, Leonard-o Da-VIN-ci did get tossed as a bit too precious.

Nimoy always crosses my mind but with zero opportunities to use it!

Should have been Lynyrd Skynyrd, with a 'Y' standing in for all other vowels. A pretty good Sweet Home Alabama, but also notable for Free Bird (and at around 10 minutes, one of the longest songs to ever hit the top 40.

And I agree with David about Nimoy!

Yes, I know that's the correct name of the band. I was riffing....

Hmm… getting a primer on a southern rock band from a Canadian.

Yup - dedicated audiophile for many decades - like many kinds of music and have three major systems in the house plus a small one in the library, made up of gear I have owned for a long time and liked enough to keep for the long term. Like many types of music - classical, blues, rock, jazz (not a fan of country or rap). Still have a record library - c. 4,000 LPs and more than 4,000 albums in digital.on my network drive.

Audio is a good hobby when you are retired! Skynyrd is fine, though I prefer the Allmans or Creedence or Kings of Leon for that sort of music, and Tedeschi Trucks are hard to beat, too.

(PS - like the home teams as well - The Band, Tragically Hip, Nickelback, etc.
