WTN: Two Radio-Coteau Syrahs '15....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Dec 16, 2024 12:04 pm

Tried these two Radio-Coteaus over the last two days:
1. Radio-Coteau Syrah HarrisonGrade/SonomaCoast (13.4%; U/U; EG) Sebastapol 2015: Very dark color w/ slight bricking; very strong c-c/SonomaCoast Syrah/black pepper some dusty/OV fairly pencilly/oak fairly complex some Rhonish/roasted lovely nose; rather tart/tangy bit dried-out but not tired fairly strong c-c/black pepper blackberry/blueberry /Syrah rather toasty/oak strong c-c/SonomaCoast/peppery bit Rhonish/roasted some complex flavor w/ modest gritty tannins; very strong blackberry/peppery finish that tracks flavor; a fully-mature SonomaCoast Syrah that is starting to dry out a bit; a bit on the rough/gritty side.

2. Radio-Coteau Syrah DustyLane/SonomaCoast (13.4%; U/U) 2015: Very dark color w/ some bricking; more intense blackberry/boysenberry/riper light pencilly/oak rather light c-c/SonomaCoast/peppery fairly dusty/OV not as complex very attractive nose; somewhat softer fairly strong blackberry/Syrah/riper some light pencilly/oak more Calif Syrah than SonomaCoast riper/soft/smoother flavor w/ little dried-out character; med.long dinish that follows flavor; a fairly soft/smooth bit more simple perfectly mature Syrah w/ no signs of drying out; a quite attractive fully-mature Syrah.

More mizzaferk from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I like a lot the Radio-Coteau wines of Eric Sussman. He first came to my attention when he started making Zin from the old vonWeidlich vnyd on HarrisonGradeRd to the East of Sebastapol. I really like his Syrahs as well. The HarrisonGrade is up on HarrisonGradeRd not far from vonWeidlich. The grapes from the DustyLaneVnyd are further to the West & in a much warner area.
