1993 Plaisir de Merle Cabernet Sauvignon - David's comment in another thread that he hadn't tried older South African vintages prompted me to grab my last bottle of this 1993 Cape wine last night. It was quite dark and had a nose of cedar and tobacco (I guess I could have just said cigar box) and it still had some decent fruit - dark plummy fruit. Still in good shape.

Jenise - we should do a braai next summer (a S.A. BBQ), as I have a magnum of 1997 and think that would be a good use for it! Now if I can only source some wildebeest (wouldn't that be good gnus if I could?)

Interesting, thanks, I don't see/drink many South African wines.
Just to be clear, the thanks is for the note, not the puns! :)
