2020 Rectoral de Amandi Ribeira Sacra Matilda Nieves - I was curious about this one as I hadn't had any Mencia wine in awhile. This vintage has been awarded a ludicrous 97 points by Decanter and costs $26 Can. up here - likely under $20 US. Having said that, the wine is very decent - darker than many pinots, and a very berry nose (mostly blackberry with some cassis hints thrown in. It is balanced and has medium length.
Back in the days when point scores still meant something it would have been a solid 90 pointer, but now you can take it to a party and mention that it got 97 from Decanter and get instant credibility, plus a decent wine. Now, it is a very decent alternative to a better class Cotes du Rhone etc.
