Thankful for DIAM and screw caps

by David M. Bueker » Sat Nov 23, 2024 6:09 pm

I have been on a string with numerous corked bottles in the last month. With a bottle of 2014 Vosne-Romanee (village) today that’s 4 since the start of November.

I am so thankful for producers that have moved to DIAM (ESJ, Ramey, Fevre, etc.) or screw caps (Donnhoff, Selbach-Oster, etc.) or other alternatives, even for part of their production.

I am sick of pouring fine wines down the drain!

And not just corked wines. Had a very good 2014 Fevre Bougros last night, In 2000-2007 vintages my premox rate for Fevre was easily 50%, maybe 65%. After Diam switch (08 for 1ers, 10 for GCs) 0%

I hate it when that happens.

Yes Dale - vastly reduced premox! I lost track of how many bottles of 2002 Fevre and Huet turned orange.
