WTN: A White & A Red...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Nov 18, 2024 1:07 pm

Tried these two for DinDin last night:
1. Kruger-Rumpf Dautenpflanzer Riesling Spatlese Nahe (8%; VDP GrosseLage; A.P.Nr. 7 702 089 041 20; SkurnikWines/NY) Weinget Kruger-Rumpf/Munster-Sarmsheim 2019: Light gold color w/ lots of ti ny swirling bubbles; strong R/floral/mango slight flinty/steely rathe ripe Spatlese nose; very strong ripe/R/mango/floral/very pineapple quite sweet slightly spritzig flavor; very long/lingering R/pineapple rather sweet finish that mimics flavor; a bit on the soft/simple side now but should develop into a wonderful old Spatlese w/ 5-15 yrs of age; attractive price. $27.00 (KK)

2. Michel Sarrazin AC: Maranges (13%; NorthBerkeleyImports) Charnailles-Jambles/Givry 2020: Med.dark color; rather earthy/dusty/OV light black cherry/PN rather Burgundian bit complex nose;fairly tangy/tart bit metallic quite earthy/dusty/OV light black cherry/PN fairly rich flavor w/ some hard tannins; med.long earthy finish that tracks flavor; a fairly rich/structured village-level RedBurg wine w/ not a lot of fruit & dominated by the earthy/loamy character; not worth the price except in te context of RedBurg. $45.00 (KK)

More gipplestitz from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Maranges is the Southernmost commune in the Cote de Beaune, since 1989 when it was granted its own AOC. Because it is warmer, it tends to make bigger/riper reds that are used to boost the Cote de Beaunes village wines. This wine was lacking the perfume of good RedBurg & dominated by the earthy/loamy character.

Kruger-Rumpf is a winery that has dramatically improved over the last 10 years.

I've in general liked their wines. Solid producer.
