WTN: 2008 Faiveley Myglands

by Dale Williams » Wed Nov 06, 2024 5:08 pm

Grilled pork chops, broccoli with colatura di alici, potatoes with seaweed butter, roast peppers.
2 bottles (first corked)of the 2008 Faiveley “Clos des Myglands” Mercurey 1er - this is a wine I bought fairly regularly when first into Burg, 1998-2002 vintages. But didn’t think I had bought since, but found these in overflow storage. First bottle corked, but luckily opened early enough to realize and get other decanted. Good acids and red fruit- raspberry and cherry. A little coffee, some spice, resolved tannins. This isn’t the deepest or longest wine, but in a good place and should be fine for a few more years. B+/B

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

The Myglands and Framboisiere were great value plays for a very long time. Not so much now!
