Cracked this wine last night for a red:
1. Bedrock Zin OldVine Calif (14.5%; Vines > 80 yrs old; Drk: 2013-2018-2023: MTP) 2013 :Very dark color w/ slight bricking; very strong blackberry/peppery SonomaVlly Zin/very spicy rather dusty/OV classiv SonomaVlly Zin bit pencilly/oak nose; fairly tart/tangy rather dusty/OV very strong peppery/SV Zin/spicy light vanilla/oak fairly rich somewhat smooth flavor w/ light bitey tannins; fairly long very SVlly/peppery Zin finish that tracks flavor; quite a good OV Zin that's still on the youthful side & a bit rough/rustic yet; still needs 2-5 yrs yet; a classiv SVlly peppery Zin.

More mikklesitz from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. The Bedrock OldVine Zin is one of my no-brainer buys from Bedrock every yr. A classiv SonomaVlly Zin at a great price.

Very nice note. A related question is how long you guys (including you in this conversation, David) give these Bedrock OVZs. I keep seeing notes in CT of people raving about the '21 OVZ, which currently slumbers peacefully in my cellar. I still have Ridge "Zin"s from the early aughts, so wondering if I'm just not calibrated to these Bedrock wines.

Bedrock is one of those producers where I like almost all of their Zins and Heritage* blends young or with age. I am just as happy to open a new release OVZ as I am to age it for 5-10 years.
*I really think Dolinsek is better on the young side.
