WTN: Pax Chard SonomaCoast '22....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Oct 28, 2024 11:23 am

Tried last night:
1. Pax Chard SonomaCoast/SonomaCnty 913.0%; w-c pressed; SS & 500 l Fr.oak puncheons) Pax Mahle Wines/Sebastapol 2022: Med.dark gold color; fairly strong Fr.oak strong melony/honeyed/almondy/spicy rather attractive Chard nose; rather tart/tangy strong lemony/melony/appley/Chard/citric bit austere/lean fairly rich/structured some toasty/Fr.oak slight honeyed bit earthy/herbal/mineral slightly tight/eviscerated flavor; very long fairly rich strong melony/appley/Chard bit honeyed finish that follows flavor; a bit like an Arnot-Roberts in style but much more richer & structured; a rather structured/tight/austere melony Chard that needs 2-6 yrs of age; fairly rich & structured but should be a good one w/ age. $38.00

More gizzlespurt from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. My latest Pax order arrived & couldn't wait to try the Chard. I was impressed & reminded me some of the old Kistler Chards. It's a bit on the austere side but very structured & should age very well.

Different strokes and all that, but I had to read this twice as on initial reading I couldn't reconcile 'lean', which you used once, with what I think is it's opposite, 'rich', which you used four times.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Well... mostly by lean I meant high acidity. It had a high acidity but was really rich & structured. Lean was a poor choice of words.
