More knerdergip from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Over a month ago, I saw some very favorable compliments on the wines of a new producer in Lompoc, Amevive. The principal behind Amevive is Alice Anderson, though I believe she has a partner she works with, who has a pretty low profile. Alice took over the lease on the Ibarra-Young vnyd in the SantaYnezVlly. This was a vnyd planted in 1971 mostly to Rhone varieties at the behest of BobLindquist.
Alice farms Ibarra-Young according to regenerative farming. Because of the Lindquist connection, I decided to order a mixed case of the Amevive wines. In the meantime, they also showed up on the shelves here in NM thru a tiny distributor, Solera. About half of her wines come from Ibarra-Young, the rest purchased grapes in the SantaYnezVlly. She still continues to sell to BobLindquist at Lindquist Family Wines.
I was quite impressed by all these Amevive reds. They all showed the classic varietal correctness. I was quite taken by the Syrah because of its spicieness & its Rhonish character. I see no reason it won't go out 6-10 yrs. I'm going back for more.
