WTN: Venturi Effect

2016 Venturi Schulze Brut Naturel Vancouver Island White Blend
A blind pour even for its owner who didn't recall what grapes were involved. Fun to discuss: first of all, this dry, youthful, light yellow wine with a fine bead was VERY good but it had too much white-flower floral and oyster-shell minerality for Chardonnay, and it clearly wasn't a BdN. We suspected some Ortega but not because we could identify it, it's just that they grow so much of it there you have to suspect any unknown white of containing it. That it was in fact an 8 yr old 100% Auxerrois was a nifty surprise. I'd buy this.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
