How has it been two years since I last opened one of these?

I've come to expect the juxtaposition of lightness of touch with depth of flavor in these Wine Co. YEAH! bottles. It's still a bit of a shock though. First sip is always a sort of "wow that's delicate" and then the flavors and aromas linger there forever. The focus is on the savory, earthy tones, which is how I like Mourvedre, but it does have a dark red fruit component, and some sneaky back-end tannins. No regrets opening one now, but there's no reason to hurry.

I first had the experience you describe here with a Joseph Swan Mourvedre. Everything I knew about Mourvedre up to that point was dark and dense with notes of blood and horse sweat. So I was initially disappointed and eventually transfixed. I called Rod up and begged a case from him, then watched them over several years. Every bottle different as it evolved, and every bottle better than the last. Never had anything else like it, but I've recognized those qualities in your descriptions of this wine. I'm quite envious.

I've never had a Swan Mourvedre. ESJ was my entry to Mourvedre from California, and of course Steve only made it for a few years, decades ago. Finding Hardy's wines brought back that magic, just in a slightly altered form.
