No wine Monday with the improbable but delicious tomato and dumpling salad with chili crisp vinaigrette.

Tuesday small birthday dinner, taramasalata apps with a scallop and broccoli pennette.main.

2020 Fichet “les Gruyaches” Meursault
White fruits, chalk, apple blossom. Deep and long, too young but I love now. Defined and delicious. A-

2023 Piccolo “Rovereto” Gavi di Gavi
Light and bright, green apple and nectarine, maybe just a hint of spritz. B

Wednesday Flannery ribeye, baked potato. shishitos, Swiss chard, slaw
1989 Mayacamas Cabernet Sauvignon
I called my last bottle ready to drink 16 years ago, but this was holding fine. Resolved tannins, lively acids, red fruits, green herbs, and a touch of green pepper. 12.5% and certainly no fruit bomb, but nice example of old school CaliCab. Much better than vintage rep. B+

To Irvington for a small Rosh Hashanah dinner, I offered to bring wine, hosts said sure but they weren’t drinking (meds), so didn’t feel like bringing just for me. . So no wine with chicken soup, asparagus, and root vegetables.

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

All sounds great, and note to self: make. that. salad.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
