Wine Focus October 2024: Fall Flavors

by David M. Bueker » Mon Sep 30, 2024 7:39 pm

A little bit of a wild card for October. What wines do you reach for when the weather (hopefully) turns cooler? We’re having some cool evenings here in the Northeast U.S., and that has me thinking about Mourvèdre, Cabernet, and Syrah.

What about you? And what are you eating to go with it?

I’m not going to post a link, but I did check, and somebody DOES make pumpkin spice wine. (But I think your ideas are better.)
cheers, Patchen

Yeah, I saw that. Threw up in my mouth a little bit.

FWIW, I got a jump start on October with black bean tacos and Desire Lines Mourvèdre.

I love autumn; it's my favorite season to cook for. I turn to braised foods and reach for medium bodied reds like pinot noir, sangiovese, nero mascalese and grenache-based blends.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

I would think that Gamay should feature in this months Focus. Malivoire in Ontario is a great Gamay producer, some need 24 hrs to really open up.
