Friday chicken in feta brine, spaghetti with a fresh tomato sauce, broccoli
2009 Pascal Marchand Clos St. Jean Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Rouge
As Gertrude would say there’s no there there. Generic red fruit, slightly woody, dull and forgettable. C+

Saturday I picked up Betsy’s mom from assisted living, they had an afternoon of cribbage and dog-cuddling before dinner.. Oysters (and shrimp for MIL), bluefish dijonnais, Tokyo bekana slaw (miso dressing), potatoes with espelette butter,
2021 Luneau-Papin L d’Or Granite Muscadet
Lovely full framed Muscadet, ripe pear and citrus zest, chamomile tea, stony finish, good acids. B+/A-

An early birthday dinner Sunday, started with tomatillo guacamole, smoked mussels, some variations on gildas (various combinations of pepper anchovies, boquerones, olives, and hot peppers)
NV Gonet-Medeville Tradition 1er Cru Brut
Ripe pear, biscuit, label says 6 g/l dosage but it tastes really too sweet for me. C+/B-

Choucroute garni (made with both sauerkraut and fresh cabbage) with smoked pork shoulder, fresh pork shoulder, pig knuckle, smoked brats, kielbasa. Cooking wine was 2018 Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt Riesling Josephshofer Kabinett Feinherb, but I didn’t sample. Potatoes and salad on the side, gluten free chocolate cake and strawberries to finish.

2009 Trimbach Cuvee Frederic Emile Riesling
Ripe pit fruits, some light petrol, a little herb and ginger. Nice, though not sure any reason to cellar any longer. B+/B

2001 Trimbach Cuvee Frederic Emile Riesling
Lovely, and this one has plenty of life left. Grapefruit, green apple, petrol, with a little sea salt. Long rocky finish, the way Freddie is supposed to! A-

2000 Ch. Meyney
As a big fan of 80s era Meyney, I was really disappointed tasting this shortly after release. But 20+ years has helped a bit , though it bears little resemblance to the Meyneys of yore. Soft tannins, soft acids, blackcurrant and rhubarb, a little ferric note on finish. OK. B/B-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Wish we had like buttons here. I have nothing to add to your comments, but I liked reading it. Your food descriptions are always intriguing.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
