Wow is this special. First bottle of the three I bought several years ago, as I misplaced it, and the bottles got buried under stuff I wanted to age long term. Do a little digging and it’s amazing what you come up with. Glad I ended up with the unintended aging, as this is spot on now. Still fresh, dark berry fruit is backed up by all the classic Syrah elements of meat, smoke, leather, and hot asphalt. The tannins are up to the task, and given the fruit level this has some real upside potential. I’m putting my other bottles back underneath the pile of long agers.

Sounds very good. With Steve retired (and AFAIK not doing Syrah in last few vintages) I need to look for more CA syrahs I might like. But you need to explain subject line to me, not enough coffee yet I guess.

It’s pretty obscure. Garth Hudson, the keyboard/winds player for The Band had a feature song for him called The Genetic Method.

Wow, just looked that up. Big fan of The Band, love Chest Fever, but not aware of that as a separate song. Thanks for interesting detour!
