Reminder: Time zone change for Sunday Chat today

by Robin Garr » Sun Mar 11, 2007 9:56 am

This will be particularly confusing for participants from other parts of the world: Under a new law intended to save energy, the US went back to summer time last night, three weeks earlier than in the past, so the forum Chat hour will change for those of you in other time zones.

Chat begins at 4 p.m. US Eeastern Daylight Time and 1 p.m. Pacific Daylight, which is 2000 GMT and 21:00 in Western Europe until Europe goes over to summer time. (I'm not sure about Canada - did our neighbors to the north stay on winter time or spring forward today?)

At least the chat room location is unchanged:
The WLDG Chat Room.

Robin: Since we are so geographically close to the US, most Canadian provinces followed suit as well.

What annoys me is, if you read the legislation, this early time change is only an "experiment." If, after two years, it doesn't appear to be accomplishing its goals, you will "go back" to doing it the old way. How confusing.

Now that I think about it, though, it would actually be kind of nice if more laws did that ...

You guys enjoy chat today. I'm going to be wandering around Mt. Diablo and soaking in this glorious weather.

This whole time change is just thing is a PITA. I had to change my TV's manually and turn off the automatic DST functions. The computers were fine.
And now what?

Tell us how you really feel about it Gary.

I will be at work, as usual. I will check in late if at all.
