First bottle from my six pack, and so glad the grapes were picked prior to the horrible 2020 fires. This is a plummier/sappier version of the L-M Syrah, that reminds me more than a little of the delectable 2016. Buried under the delicious fruit there is a core of structure, but it’s going to be a while before it can assert itself. No problem though, as this is very fun to drink now.

2021 was the final vintage for L-M.

I opened expecting a Grange note (or figured if you had won lottlery you might have posted a Le Pin-ultimate note). I know she retired, so 2021 was last vintage?

Yes. 2021 is the end. Aaron Pott now gets the fruit. I am sure the wines will be good, but they will also be much more expensive.

After the 2021 vintage they stopped everything. They are essentially retired, though Steve still does a lot of the maintenance on the site.

Blackberry fruit and a kirsch note that floats on top - this is positively luscious!

He’s certainly involved. Not sure I could imagine Steve Lagier not using power equipment!
