No wine Tuesday with tomato curry. Wednesday we made plans to go to park concert, but Betsy decided the one day heat wave was too much. We still have our no time to cook picnic, Popeye’s spicy fried chicken, cole slaw, and a caprese (burrata and purple basil). Wine was the NV Olivier Lassaigne Blanc de Blancs Reserve. Apple and baked bread, a little mushroom on finish, tasty but needs a little more crispness. B

Some friends came back from Nova Scotia, where they’ve been winterizing their summer home in anticipation of a full move. A small group gathered on our patio to welcome them. Appetizers were St Agur wrapped in prosciutto and some conservas.
NV Louis Chalvon Reserve Champagne
And I thought the Lassaigne needed more crispness. Apple cider, canned pear juice, soft and forgettable (hopefully). C+

2023 Fazi Rose (Ile de Beaute, Corse)
Pale and light bodied, strawberry and raspberry, a little oregano-y herb note. Not a lot there, but pleasant, and it is like $10. B/B-

Dinner was roast buttermilk chickens, potatoes, corn, and salad

1998 Ch. du Tertre (Margaux)
Sweet cassis fruit and a little green pepper, some oak still apparent, decent length. B

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
