WTN: Fitz Riesling Extra Trocken

An entry into this month's fizz topic

Fitz Riesling Extra Trocken

Tasted at the Fitz Ritter Winery ,a 7th generation family owned winery in Bad Dürkheim, Germany

An ancestor had gone to Champagne and brought back a winemaker who knew how to make fizz.

Maybe because this is Extra Trocken rather then Brut, it tasted to me a neutral wine and not one I'd want to drink.

(They did make a cracking crisp Sauvignon Blanc and an over-oaked Chardonnay.

As a long time taster of Fitz Ritter wines, they make way too many things, thus sacrificing quality for quantity. There’s the occasional gem, but it’s rare. I know and like Alice Fitz, but the winery needs a new direction.
