We tried these two Siduris at Pig+Fig on Wed:
1. Siduri PinotNoir Clone 943/SierraMarVnyd/SantaLuciaHighlands (13.6%) 2009: Very dark color w/ slight bricking; strong pencilly/Siduri oak strong PN/black cherry/blackcherry cola slight herbal/peppery rather spicy quite perfumed strong SLH Pinot some complex lovely nose; quite tart/tangy rather peppery/herbal/SLH spicy strong black cherry/black cherry cola/PN strong pencilly/Siduri oak some complex lovely flavor w/ rich chewey tannins; very long/lingering intense black cherry finish that mimics flavor; a lovely SLH Pinot that has not yet peaked and can use another 2-5 yrs. $28.00

2. Siduri PinotNoir SierraMarVnyd/SantaLuciaHighlands (14.4%) 2009: Very dark color w/ some bricking; lighter pencilly/Siduri oak much less intense more straightforward black cherry/PN much more simple not very strong SLH character nose; quite tart/tangy simpler black cherry/PN lighter pencilly/oak flavor w/ modest bitey tannins; fairly long rather tart/tannic finish that follows flavor; much less intense & doesn't speak strongly of SLH; further along in its maturity & probably a bit beyond its peak. $37.00

More gifflebork from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. The SierraMar Vnyd is owned by Gary and Rosella Franscioni and is one of the highest in the SantaLucia AVA. It is planted to a variety of Dijon Pinot clones. The first wine is a mono-clonal selection from that vnyd.
I easily preferred the Clone 943 version because it was more intense & more complex and showed stronger SLH character. A first rate Pinot from Adam.
