We tried these two Pinots ystrday at Pig+Fig:
1. Siduri PinotNoir CargasacchiVnyd/StaRitaHills (14.1%) 2009: Dark color w/ little bricking; strong very spicy/c-c peppery very strong black cherry/black cherry cola/PN/very spicy light pencilly/Siduri oak classic SRH spicy fairly complex beautiful nose; quite tart very strong/intense PN/black cherry cola/c-c peppery/SRH spicy strong pencilly/Siduri oak rather complex flavor w/ modest bit bitey tannins;very long/lingering black cherry finish that follows flavor; loads of SRH/c-c/peppery character & rather structured and can go another 4-6 yrs; probably not quite at its peak yet. $37.50

Siduri PinotNoir CargasacchiVnyd/StaRitaHills (14.5%) 2010: Med.dark color w/ some bricking; very quiet some Siduri oak/pencilly light spicy/peppery/SRH PN bit complex fairly attractive if lightish nose; softer light PN/black cherry/cherry/lightly spicy less SRH spicy lighter Siduri/oak bit simpler flavor w/ light tangy tannins; long lighter finish that mimics flavor; a lighter/simpler mild-mannered/quiet PN that's probably going nowhere, but no signs of falling apart. $39.50

1. Of these two, I much preferred the '09 for its more intense character. The '10 was quite a bit quieter than the '09.
The Cargasacchi Pinots were always some of my most favorite PNs. I don't think Peter is growing grapes anymore and I've sorta lost track of him. Not sure where those grapes go nowadays. Peter was always one of my favorite growers for his sense of humor. His brother Mark is still making wine over in the Lompoc ghetto I believe. Would love to hear about Peter these days if anyone has any information.
