Weingut Ziereisen Gutadel Heugumber Badischer Landwein (10%; www.Ziereisen.De; SkurnikWines) H.P.Ziereisen/Efringen-Kirchen 2021: Med.yellow color; rather earthy/stony/chalky fairly appley/pear/apple blossom bit floral rather pleasant/simple nose; bit soft slight metallic/tangy rather apple/pear light stony/chalky bit bland simple flavor; med. some stony/apple finish that tracks flavor; med. finish that tracks flavor; a pleasant enough but bland white that lacks intensity or interest; a bit like an Aligote w/o the minerality. $25.00 (SFW&S)

Carlisle Zin SonomaCnty (14.9%; +PetiteSirah/AlicanteBouchet; 860 cs) SantaRosa 2006: Dark color w/ some bricking; bit alcoholic/fumey strong spicy/Zin/blackberry rather toasty/oak bit simple slight cedary/pencilly/oldZin nose; soft rather tannic somewhat dried out some alcoholic/fumey some blackberry/Zin/bit peppery/spicy flavor w/ some chewey tannins; no sigs of oxidation but pretty dried out/tannic on the palate; on its downhill death spiral.

1. Gutadel is known as Fendant in Suisse and Casselas in France. The grape is thought to have originated in Palestine. Shoulda stayed there.
This is the 3rd Ziereisen from Baden I've had in the last 2 weeks. Thoroughly underwhelming wines.
