Larry brought this as a mystery wine to our Syrah tasting at Pig+Fig last night:
1. TreViti Syrah StoloFamilyVnyds/CentralCoast (14.6%; www.TreViti.com) P&B by Stephen Dooley/SantaMaria 2005: Very dark color w/ little bricking; very strong c-cSyrah/peppery/black pepper strong blackberry/Syrah/black cherry light toasty/pencilly/Fr.oak fairly complex slight earthy nose; rather tart very strong blackberry/Syrah/blueberry fairly c-cSyrah/peppery light toasty/Fr.oak rather complex lovely flavor w/ light gentle tannins; very long/lingering peppery/blackberry Syrah finish that goes on&on w/ light tannins that follows the flavor; a beautiful example of a balanced c-c Syrah; probably near its peak.

More twicklegrit from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. StoloFamilyVnyd is one of the very cold vnyds in Calif, located just East of Cambria less than two miles from the Pacific. Located up on a hillside, they also grow PinotNoir. When I first heard of this vnyd way the hell & gone out on the coast, I made an appointment to meet Maria Stolo-Bennetti & walk the vnyd. It is an impressive vnyd & colder than hell when I visited.
The first wines were made by Steve Dooley of Stephen Ross Vnyds wnry. Now the operation has drawn in Raj Parr as winemaker.
It's been quite a few yrs since I've tried a TreViti wine. Their Pinots are also quite good. They also make GWT & SauvBlanc from their Creekside Estate down below the hillside planting.
