WTN: Jaffurs Syrah BienNacido '06....(short/boring)

Had this older Jaffurs Syrah at Pig+Fig ystrday:
1. Jaffurs Syrah BienNacidoVnyd/SantaBarbaraCnty (15.5%) 2006: Very dark color w/ light bricking; lovely peppery c-c/Syrah/blackberry/boysenberry/ripe some BNSyrah/black cherry cola some toasty/Fr.oak rather complex classic SBC Syrah beautiful nose; lightly tart c-cSyrah/peppery strong blackberry/black cherry/BN Syrah some toasty/Fr.oak complex flavor w/ light bit tangy tannins; very long/lingering complex finish that tracks flavor; still lots of youthful SBC Syrah fruit w/ no signs of drying out or fading; tannins are pretty much resolved; a beautiful mature Jaffurs Syrah that's probably near its peak.

More nittlebatz from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. The BienNacido vnyd is truly one of Calif's great vnyds, and not just for Syrah. At one time one of Calif's coldest Syrah vnyds. BobLindquist made a genius move when he convinced the Millers to graft over the Riesling X-Block to Syrah. Mixed feelings about that as some really lovely R came out of that block. BN Syrah has a distinctive character to me that suggests black cherry cola.
By this 2006 vintage, Craig was taking his Syrah from the Hillside block up on the ridgetop.
