WTN: I think I'm going to Kathmandu

  • 2021 Hofgut Falkenstein Niedermenniger Herrenberg Riesling Spätlese feinherb "Meyer Nepal" #11 - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (8/5/2024)
Once again I hit that odd circumstance where I randomly grab a bottle from the cellar almost exactly a year after my last one. I wasn't aiming for this at all, and in fact was planing for something else, but grabbed this and said "why not" and threw it into the fridge.

This particular bottle seemed a bit more clenched than the one last year. Still bright and fresh, but a notable phenolic/chalky edge to the finish that sort of caught in my throat. Balance still excellent, and the just barely off dry finish was very appealing. Probably better to let more than a year go by before my next one to allow things to settle down a bit.
