Tried this new wine ystrday afternoon:
1. Cristom Viognier LouiseVnyd/Eola-AmityHills/WillmatteVlly (13.5%; CristomVineyards.com) Salem/OR 2022: Light yellow color; some pear/Viog rather stony/chalky/earthy almost Chard-like/appley rather restrained/quiet not very perfumed nose; very tart/tangy very light pear/Viog some earthy/stony/chalky rather appley some austere rather restrained flavor; med. finish follows flavor; a pleasany/interesting Chard/R-like wine but speaks little of Viog; a bit like a Pays d'Oc Viog w/o the minerality; actually a pretty nice minerally white but speaks nothing of Viog or only w/ a whisper. $31.00 (SFW&S)

More bikkystrat from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I was pretty disappointed in this wine when I first opened it because it had almost no Viognier character, no matter how I struggled to find some. But they more I drank it it, the more I liked it for its stony minerality. Screw the varietal character.
