WTN: Fizz-les - a WA pet-nat

by Jenise » Sat Aug 03, 2024 12:00 pm

Friends of mine are neighbors of J.B. Neufeld and I've enjoyed his cabs, so I nabbed this NV Pet-Nat one day in town thinking it would be a fun hot day tipple. Opened it last night. The bottle does not disclose the grapes involved, but unfortunately it tasted of underripe Sauvignon Blanc. What's that like, you ask? Well, ever eat grapefruit right out of the rind and when you had eaten all the segments you squeezed the rest of the juice into your spoon and it comes with a bitter rind flavor? That. Plus a little bay leaf. Couldn't finish a glass. Or, well, I could have, but why bother--if you're going to risk the calories and the alcohol drink something nicer. So I dumped it and opened a white burgundy which was going to be a good pairing for the salmon I was fixing for dinner.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
