We tasted these these two at our Pig+Fig tasting last week:
1. Lagier-Meredith Malbec MtVeeder/NapaVlly (14.8%) 2021: Very dark color; strong chocolaty/blackcurranty/licorice/lightly herbal fairly earthy/dusty/bit loamy/rather OV light toasty/oak bit rustic nose; somewhat tart rather herbal/rustic/earthy bit licorice/chocolaty/Malbec slight loamy/rustic/earthy flavor w/ ample chewey tannins; very long Malbec/rustic finish that follows flavor; a rather big wine that lacks the high-toned perfumy character of CS; a very interesting Malbec that shows a bit of that rustic/loamy character of SA Malbec. $45.00/$38.25

2. Bedrock CabSauv MontecilloVnyd/SonomaVlly/SonomaCnty (14.4%; Plntd: 1964/Nun's Canyon;
On the skins for 40 days) 2013: Very dark color w/ light bricking; strong blackcurranty/Cab slight herbal fairly strong toasty/vanilla/oak rather dusty/OV somewhat Bdx-like/smokey very classic Bedrock bit complex nose; fairly tart/tangy rather tannic/hard strong blackcurranty/Cab some vanilla/toasty/oak sligt earthy/dusty/OV rather hard/rough bit complex flavor w/ modest rough tannins; very long/lingering blackcurranty Cab finish that follows flavor; a fairly classic Bedrock red that speaks strongly of CS w/ no signs of drying out & fading; probably in a perfect spot right now.

1. I really liked both of these wines. The L-M was a very distinctive expression of Malbec.The Bedrock is developing nicely but speaks more of Bedrock winemaking than anything.
