WTN: Nice wines- Bdx, Bojo, Alsace, Nahe, Rias Baixas

Sometimes you're on a good streak

Pork tenderloin, potatoes, slaw, beet/onion salad with blue cheese

2009 Terres Dorees (JP Brun) Cote de Brouilly
Lovely and a pointe, black cherries and cranberries, lots of smoky notes, some floral and herb. The ripeness and power of the vintage is there, but well balanced by vivid acids. A-/B+

Oysters, black sea bass, corn, broccoli, pasta amatricana , salad

2022 Forjas del Salnes Leirana Albarino
Citrus and tart apple, seashelly mineral finish, like a blend between a Muscadet and maybe a Quincy. B/B+

We carried dinner to some friends who are post-surgery, lovely time on patio
Scallop crudo with cooked lobster, corn/tomato salad, pate, Danny Kaye’s chicken salad (tarragon)
NV Gosset Grande Rose
Strawberries, pink grapefruit, rye bread. Pretty deep and long. B+/B

1983 Trimbach Cuvee Frederic Emile Riesling
Slightly depressed cork, fingers crossed. Yippee! Light gold color (deepens with some time, but remains vibrant). Fresh orange and apple fruit, gingery spice, petrol. Very minerally finish (Gerolsteiner without bubbles). Holds well. B+/A-

2021 Schafer-Frohlich Schiefergestein Riesling Trocken
Very pale. Hint of spritz. Lemon and green apple, very acidic (too acidic for Mark I think).
I quite liked. B+

1966 Ch. Latour
Very generous. Almost 60 and this still has some tannic structure. Black fruit, black truffles, earth and saddle leather. Last glass softened nicely, and fruit moved from a dark cassis to more red plum. Really lovely. A-

Quite a weekend!

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Quite a weekend indeed. Glad to see the Gosset Rose as part of your streak.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

‘83 was the vintage that turned me into an Alsace fan. A friend poured a few in a blind tasting back in the late 1990s and I was smitten.
