More grossfurtle from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Some 6-8 yrs ago, the IngridGroiss wines showed up here in NM & I fell in love with them Excelent wines & very reasonably priced. The wines were being imported thru CircoVino over in AZ. The distributor (Fiasco) were pretty timid about importing them and only brought in the basic GV & GS. I would have to go up to CO to get some her more special wines.
The Gemischter Satz is a special wine of Austria, originally from Vienna. It is a field blend of varieties, co-fermented, of old-vines vnyds. I tend to prefer the GV for its purity, but the GS can be equally interesting.
We did a visit w/ Ingrid about 2019. She was busy w/ bottling but entertained us in her Heuregin as time permitted. She showed us some of her older wines & they were quite impressive. As was the food. I took along a btl of Mike Officer's Gruner & she was quite impressed that they could make GV that good in Calif.
All three of these wines seemed to be rather quiet & restrained & closed. They all had pretty high acidity. My guess is that in a couple of ys of age, these wines will really start to show their stuff. But it's just all potential right now.
