Hello everybody!

by David from Switzerland » Sat Mar 10, 2007 1:36 pm

Dear friends and fellow wine lovers!

So how has everybody been around here? Splendid, I hope!

It must be a year or more that I have not posted my tasting notes anymore. Sorry to those who were so friendly as to provide nice bottles and to whom I promised I would post notes and did not. I am planning to catch up on those, too.

I realise how much I have always relied on the unfailing generosity of others in my fine wine hobby. That I did not post does not mean that 2006 was not a good year for me as far as fine wine drinking is concerned. Quite on the contrary, this seeming hiatus included many notable and some profound tasting and drinking experiences to which I hope the tasting notes I am going to post in the next weeks or so (trying to avoid empty promises) will attest.

There is one problem, though, which I do not know how to avoid: there is a number of tasting notes and/or complete posts reaching back to late 2005 of which I am unable to tell if I have indeed posted them before or not. I figure if I cannot find them in the archive of either this or the old WLDG sites, I will have to run the risk of reposting one or the other, so that at least they would get archived here? Would that be all right with everybody? I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this might pose.

Be that as it may, I am glad to be back, or should say, hope to be back to stay this time!

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

Post David, please. Duplicates are no problem at all -- especially with notes of the high quality you invariably post.

Welcome back, Regards, Bob

Welcome back David! Very glad to see you here.

If you dig a little bit, I started a 2005 German thread a while back & kept adding to it with more and more bottles. I think it's called Open Mike: 2005 Germans. Perhaps we could have a little spirited discussion on the merits of the 2005 vintage.

Of course you should post them, David. There are many, many new members here all the time who have never seen them even if posted previously.

Welcome back!

David, as I told you in E-mail, welcome back home! We're so glad to see you here!

And as the others have said, of course you are welcome to post your TNs again.

That being said, I do think that most of your tasting reports from the old forum remain available on WineLoversPage.com

Try going to the front page (or any page) and entering "TN David from Switzerland" in the search engine. There may be some false hits, but a large number of hits will come back.

Hi David!

The 2005 Rieslings from Germany, oh my... There among the ones the tasting notes I haven't even typed yet. Certainly standout portfolios I readily remember in this vintage were those by Egon Müller, Daniel Vollenweider, Robert Weil, Jakob Kühn, Clemens Busch, Zilliken and (lo and behold!) Maximin Grünhaus (von Schubert). I'll have a look for that post!

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

Dear Robin!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

As to those TNs, I just figured out that many of the ones I couldn't find are on the http://community.netscape.com page, where, I must admit, forgot to look. Oops! Sorry!

Greetings from Switzerland, David.

David,

It's funny you mention Grunhaus, as I had the Abstberg Auslese last week. I just added a note on it to the open mike thread, so it will be back on page 1.

Welcome back David, I and obviously several others had wondered where you had wandered off to. We are of course happy to see you back, and we hope you will bring all your eating and drinking buddies with you.
