2016 B V.....GdL.....This wine was amazingly smooth with tannins well under control. Still an infant of course but totally enjoyable now with lots of black fruit. Huge potential given the perfect balance.

2016 Janasse CnP V V .......again a youngster but very approachable now. Sweet grenache fruit with little complexity but tannins starting to mellow. I never have had an old (15 yr.) Janasse CnP but I cannot imagine it ever developing the earth/mushroom/barnyard complexity of even a so-so Pegau.

2016 Chateau Rouget......sweet cherry fruit dominates....very black color with some slight pokey tannins but not enough to obscure the fruit.

All in all , three wines that have lots of potential, especially the B. V.... If only more young Napa Cabs could have tannins so under control to be enjoyed now and 20 years later.

I don’t think Janasse VV is meant to ever develop that earthy/barnyard note. Pretty much squeaky clean and very ripe.

Nice to hear about the BV. Been some tough years for that storied label.
