Roberto Rogness of Wine Expo??

Roberto Rogness of Wine Expo/SantaMonica used to have a considerable presence on various wine boards over the yrs. WineExpo was an excellent wine shop for Italian wines. Roberto was extremely knowledgeable.The Roberto, rather than Robert, was an affectation to give him some Italian cred.
Wine Expo changed hands in 2018. The current Italian offering is but a shadow of what it was under Roberto.

Does anyone know whatever happened to Roberto?? I miss his contributions.

He disappeared a long time ago. Popped back very briefly not long after the disappearance, and hasn't been heard from since. IIRC he was ill in some way or other. Interesting guy indeed. Only met him in person once at his shop. Picked up a 6 pack or so of Taurasi wines after he had that dust up about Taurasi on eBob. IIRC of the six bottles two were very good, two OK, and two downright awful.

Ah, another WIWP. His knowledge of Italian wine was matched only by his flair for self-promotion (success with wine and women). Not a fan, personally!
