- NV Laherte Frères Champagne Les 7 Extra Brut - France, Champagne (6/30/2024)
January 2021 disgorgement, this was our retirement celebration Champagne. Very nutty with distinct wheat bread notes, the depth was the first major impression. It actually took some time for the citrus fruit and apple skin notes to get past all that bready/nutty goodness. Very balanced dosage (bottle says 2-4 g/l for whatever that’s worth). Overall an excellent bottle of Champagne, though I need more experience with all the seven varieties to really understand what they bring to the mix. This bottling has 10% Fromenteau, 8% Arbanne, 14% Pinot Noir, 18% Chardonnay, 17% Pinot Blanc, 18% Meunier, and 15% Petit Meslier.
