Loimer Riesling Langenloiser DAC: Kamptal (12.5%; VnydBrands/Birmingham/AL) 2022: Med.light yellow color; lovely very fragrant R/mango/floral/slight pineapple some mineral/Mosel valve oil sligt steely/metallic classic Wachau R nose; quite tart/tangy bit steely lush R/floral/mango/pineapple bright/zippy fairly rich/lush light mineral/chalky lovely Mosel-like flavor; very long/lingerig finish that tracks flavor; a really lovely Kamptal R at a very good price; almost at smaargd level; will benefit from 4-8 yrs of age. $35.00 (KK)

Cascina Ca'Rossa Dd'OCeG: Roero Arneis Mercia (13%; RiberiWinesIntl/LaMesa/CA) Ferrio Angelo/Canale 2021:Med.yellow color w/ lots of tiny bubbles clinging to the glass; some stony/chalky/metallic very light carnations/Arneis rather bland/vapid nose; lightly tart off-dry mostly stony/chalky/metallic slight frizzante very slight floral/Arneis/carnations flavor; short slightly tart off-dry stony/metallic finish that tracks flavor;an utterly bland/vapid white w/ little Arneis fruit to speak of; an Oakland wine. $21.00 (KK)

(14%; Vajra/Manhasset/NY) Barolo 2023: Somewhat light color; very attractive fragrant flral/lilacs/Nebb/violets light earthy/dusty quite aromatic/perfumed lovely nose; fairly tart/tangy/slight metallic strong floral/violets/Nebb/lilacs/rose petal bit earthy/dusty bright/zippy floral classic Nebb flavor w/ light brisk tannins; & bit of prickle on tongue; long bright Nebb finish w/ light tannins; a very pretty floral classic Nebb light-weight red w/o the tannins to take off your head; a very pretty Nebb Vin de Soif. $27.00 (SFW&S)

1. VnydBrands was here in NM this weekend to show their Austrian portfolio. I tried their Gruner of this wie & liked it quite a lot. So decided I step up in price & try this R. Loved it. Gig back for more.
The Clare comes from this being an old-timey claret-type wine...light & drinkable. The J.C. stands for Jefferson/Corti cuvee. Darrell Corti came upon an old Jefferson TN from his time in Paris in the late 1700's. He asked to Izzy Vajra to duplicate thay kind of Barolo that TJ drank back in those day. If it was good for TJ, it's good enough for us Barolo lovers. Alas, TJ's score did not come w/ his TN.
