Tried this new arrival from Jaffurs last night:
1. Jaffurs Viognier SantaBarbaraCnty (14.2%) SantaBarbara 2023: Med.gold color w/ lots of tiny bubbles that dissapate; very strong quite pear/Viog lightly floral/gardenias light chalky/perfumed tacl slight spicy/nutmeg qute lovely perfumed nose; fairly tart light chalky/perfumed talc/metallic strong very pear/Viog/pear blossom/floral/gardenias rather lithe/brisk lightly ruch/lush lovely flavor; very long/lingering delicate pear/Viog/pear blossom finish that follows flavor; a rather subtle/brisk/lithe Viog w/ lots of understated pear/pear blossoms character; far away from DollyParton territory; lacks the minerality of a great Condrieu & clearly Calif Viog; a lovely balanced pear blossom Viog that should improve for several yrs. $30.00 (SFW&S)

More jittleclack from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I have, of course, followed the Jaffurs Viog from (before) the very start. On a visit to Bob Senn's tasting room, he suggested that I meet this new Rhone guy from Santa Barbara, Craig Jaffurs. So on my next visit, Bob arranged arranged for Craig to meet up w/ LarryArchibald & myself at Bob's tasting room. At that point in time, Craig was making his wines up at the CentralCoast Wine Coop in SantaMaria, so he retrieved some samples of his Viog and Syrah and brought them to Bob's in the little Gerber's baby food jars. Since then, I've always associated Craig w/ Gerbers baby food. We sat out on Bob's front tasting room porch and visited w/ Craig & tried the two wines. I was fairly impressed with both of them, but quite struck w/ Craig's passion for Rhone varietals. He, of course, went on to make his mark on the Calif Rhone movement.
So that's my Jaffurs Viognier story & I'm stickin' to it.
